Warden Full Gospel Assembly has experienced more than 65 years of God’s faithfulness. Our roots date back to 1952, when a group of German immigrants settled in Toronto and desired a place to worship.

They met for two years with the help of several men who gave leadership and preached the word of God.  In 1954, Rev. Edmund Boettcher began to lead and the small congregation officially started meeting at Christus Kirche (Christ’s Church).

The congregation met at Stone Church and Evangel Temple until 1956, when they purchased their first building on Broadview Avenue in Toronto, and strong growth started taking place. The ministry at Christus Kirche during this time, continued to be primarily German-speaking. Sunday School, Choir, and Youth Ministries were developed.

In 1963, Rev. Jakob Heidt became the Pastor. Three years later, an extensive addition to the church on Broadview was completed to accommodate continued growth.

With Rev. Heidt going into full time evangelistic work, Rev. Werner Honsalek became Pastor for a little more than a year. In 1977, Rev. Eduard Nerling became the Pastor. As the congregation continued to grow, it became evident that further expansion was necessary.

In 1982, a decision was made to relocate Christus Kirche. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, 2210 Warden Avenue was purchased and Warden Full Gospel Assembly (WFGA) was dedicated at its present location in the Scarborough-Agincourt community.

During the next few years, WFGA developed into a neighborhood church and English services were introduced. The congregation begun to experience multi-cultural growth. In 1989, Rev. Gerhard Rattai became Pastor and God continued to grow His church so that a large expansion of the present facility was undertaken in 1991.

When Rev. Rattai resigned, Rev. Gordon Krause became Pastor for a little more than two years. In 1999, Rev. Roger Malcolm became the Lead Pastor.

The church continued to grow into a multi-ethnic, multi-generational community. From 2013 to 2017, Rev. Trevor Moss led the congregation as Pastor and in 2018, Dr Werner Rienas assumed leadership.

Today, we are a church that endeavors to embrace our local and global community and reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we look forward to the years ahead, our desire is for WFGA to continue to be salt and light in the community and the neighborhoods where our church family live and work.
